Family Vacation to Colorado: Day 3

Our prayers for no rain were answered today, despite the forecast!  It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed spending time outside riding bikes and going on "bear hunts".

These past few days have been incredible.  I have a new love and appreciation for my sweet family.  I haven't felt this stress-free in a long time!  We've had so much fun together and still have had plenty of time for relaxing (I've already read one book and am working on finishing another).  :)  As much as the boys love being outside, they're also enjoying getting to play more Angry Birds than usual.

The boys showing off their new sunglasses and Angry Bird hats!  Thanks Lola!

Cool guys!

Getting ready for our bike ride!

Kevin had the privilege of pulling both children...up and down the hills.  He got his workout in!

The boys on their favorite trail--going on a bear hunt!

Sweet boys

The water was COLD!

Noah LOVED looking for just the right rock and then chucking it into the river.

He was amused that he splashed himself!

Relaxing by the river while the boys threw rocks in the river!

Caleb and one of his many rocks from his ever-growing rock collection!

What a great day!  Can't wait for tomorrow!

Family Vacation to Colorado: Day 2

Rain, rain, go away.  Don't come back another day!

It's been steadily raining and pretty cold cool here all day, which means we haven't had as many opportunities to be outside.  We've still had a great time together--doing a little shopping, napping together, reading books, playing Angry Birds, and playing board games.

Despite our more-than-ideal sleeping arrangements, sleep still seems to be evading us.  The boys won't go down until SUPER late and then wake up SUPER early, ready to start the day.  Top that off with the fact that Noah hardly slept last night (even after we moved him into our bed), and we were all exhausted this morning.  I guess it's a good thing we had lots of time to rest and relax today!

We got out early this morning while it was just sprinkling.

Looking at the ducks

Sure enough, while we were walking it started raining harder.  Good thing we were prepared with umbrellas!  :)

The boys loved dancing in the rain!

We even saw a moose while we were driving...less than 1/4 mile from our condo!

After lunch out, a nap for all of us, a quick walk, and dinner...we played a few games together as a family.

One of my favorite moments of the day was Caleb singing a song he made up about me right before bedtime--how he loves me and I'm so sweet...cherished words that melted my heart!

Here's to hoping we have a beautiful morning tomorrow so we can do some much-anticipated bike riding!

Family Vacation to Colorado: Day 1

I have been absolutely horrible at updating this little blog of ours (as you can see that my last post was CHRISTMAS), but I thought I would start somewhere and then go back and fill in as I have time.  :)

This summer marks a first for our little family--our first week-long family vacation with just the four of us!  We are spending the week in Keystone, Colorado and are having a blast making lifelong memories together.  I'll be updating each day to ensure that this trip is properly documented (and since I'll have some extra free time not tending the the ever-growing demands of our house).  :)

We have had a blast so far.  Even the 9-hour drive here was fun.  The boys entertained us with their sweet stories and songs (and watched several DVDs).  Kevin and I had lots of great conversation and we all oohed and awed as the mountains that looked so tiny on the horizon were suddenly boldly standing right in front of us.

On Sunday, we decided to make the 30-minute trek to Breckenridge to go on the Alpine Slides since the weather was supposed to be nicest that day and try out all of the other fun things that they had at the top of the gondola!

Our family--getting ready to get on the gondola.

The boys panning for gold and gemstones!

Caleb trying out the rock climbing wall

Pony rides!

The Bungee Trampoline:  The minimum weight limit was 30 pounds, so both boys got to go!  The boys' personalities definitely showed through on this activity...

Caleb enjoyed it but was much more comfortable being closer to the ground.

Noah was like a little rag doll and looked like he would fly out of his harness at any moment.  He about gave his Mama a heart attack!

He loved every single minute and showed absolutely no fear!!!

The boys even got to play miniature golf!

I love watching these boys grow together--they truly are the best of friends.  They bring us so much joy and fill our home with tons of laughter!
Thanks to Facebook, I found out that one of my very best friends just happened to be a few miles away from where we were staying.  They came over for dinner and then we got to hang out all evening.  It was so much fun getting to catch up with Suz and Cory!!!

This is one of the boys favorite things to do in Colorado!

Looking forward to all our adventures tomorrow!
